URL Settings are crucial for maintaining website structure and SEO. Often used for products and categories along with the rest of the single pages that adds to the link structure of the e-commerce website, ensuring a standardized URL structure.
URL Settings are divided into 3 main categories under the roof of URL Settings, respectively, URL Settings, Product URL Settings, Category URL Settings.
Follow through the Sales Channels > Marketing sidebar and click the URL Settings page.
Insert the Language of the link setting desired to be done, this will clarify which language your root domain targeted, as in /en, /ar extensions.
Insert the Old URL to be redirected which is often assigned by the system but does not match with the URL structure of your website, as in the example /category/643.
Insert the New URL that matches with your content and URL structure for example /bags/.
This section can be used as URL redirections as we studied above since its 301 redirection nature and it will store all your redirected links from both screens; URL Settings and URL Redirections.
Product URL Settings are created to standardize the URL structure of single products pages that exist on your e-commerce site.
For instance, when a new product is registered on your website, the Old URL is automatically generated. When the product is moved to a specific category, a unique URL is generated for the product and entered in the New URL field.
Often used with the combination of (domain)/(category) - Product Name-Base Code.
While domain is stable and not changeable, category will be dependent on the category tree where you desired your product to be stored, this will help you build a healthy breadcrumb strategy, and product name/base code combination will be coming from the key section of Product Url Settings and can be combined with more keys as desired.
Category URL Settings are designed to standardize the URL structure of categories displayed on your e-commerce website.
Whenever you create or modify a category, these settings ensure that the URL structure remains consistent and user-friendly.
It is often used with the keys of parent-name, which refers to the parent category in the category tree, in this example let's say ‘women’ and name will be referred as the category name, in this example we can call it ‘shoes’ to be explained more clearly. But can be enriched as desired by consulting your authorized person who is assigned to your e-commerce brand.
